2013 Skill for Life Advanced Driving Courses |

Bristol Advanced Motorists runs 4 courses each year. Each course begins with theory seminars before embarking on a series of practical driving sessions with IAM Observers.
|
|
Theory seminars are on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm approx. and are held at BAWA Health & Leisure Centre, Southmead Road, Filton.

Opportunity to meet with one of the IAM's Test Examiners. Your chance to ask questions about advanced driving techniques and find out what the IAM Examiner is looking for on test.

THE COURSE
|
|
|
|
The Skill for Life course and test are based on the driving system adopted by Police Response Driver Units. It uses the IAM handbook 'How to be a Better Driver' as the main reference and course Members will receive a copy of this book at the first course session. You are asked to ensure that You also have the latest copy of the 'Highway Code' and 'Know your Traffic Signs' as candidates will be expected to have a sound knowledge of traffic law. Read more...

THE 3 SEMINAR SESSIONS
|
|
These are held at the well-equipped and easily accessible BAWA Centre in Filton. The sessions will start at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm and include coffee/tea. Police Officers and Group Trainers will give the lectures and you are advised to attend all three sessions to gain maximum benefit from the course.

EXPERIENCE DRIVES
|
|
This is your first opportunity to see the advanced principles of car control in practice with one of the Group's Qualified Observers. The 'experience drive' will take place after seminar two and start from the BAWA Centre.
