This guide has been produced mainly for the
benefit of Associates but it can also be an invaluable document for Observers. It is a compilation of the main problems which
Associates have when preparing for the IAM Advanced Driving Test and has been
compiled from the copious notes of guidance the author has given to Associate
Members and Observers in the course of c2500 hours of observed drives and
subsequent debriefs.
It therefore contains the nitty-gritty ‘how
to do it' or 'hands on' practical techniques and information not explained in
detail in either HTBABD or Roadcraft. It also includes useful phrases and
sayings which, added together, form an important and integral part of the
mnemonics used in practical advanced driving.
As a working document it is continually being
updated with additions and amendments.
Whether or not you are undergoing an advanced
driving course you may find that some of the advanced driving principles
challenge those generally understood to be correct practice by standard
drivers.
If you have any questions about the advanced
driving techniques contained in this document the author shall be very pleased
to hear them and you can do this here: Contact Us .
